For organizations to stay competitive in today’s economy, it is essential for them to adopt and ingrain-in three important concepts of Kaizen (Change for Better), Kaikaku (Revolutionary Change), Kaizen and Kaikaku are both ways to approach Lean methodologies. While they are both important, they are also different. Understanding the strengths of each and the key processes and strategies to Kaizen and Kaikaku Scrum is a framework not only for producing product, but also for constantly advancing the abilities of the team creating that product. From a process perspective, Scrum is all Kaikaku, in contrast, means radical/big change. Whereas Kaizen is about small incremental improvements, Kaikaku is taking a sledgehammer to a system/process. Due to the large nature and ergo expensive nature of these changes they are normally top-down decisions.

It means radical overhaul of an activity to eliminate all waste (muda in Japanese) and create greater value. It is a rapid and radical change process. Kaizen is Japanese and stands for »improvement« or » change for the better«. Kaikaku on the other hand stands for »radical change «. Kaikaku and Kaizen are concepts in Japanese production philosophy that relate to each other. Both have origins in the Toyota Production System . Kaikaku means a radical change, during a limited time, of a production system.
